HiYa Everyone! I just wanted to say thank you for checking out my blog. I hope you enjoy! Here is a little more about me . . . for those interested!
How old are you?
I'm 26 . . . . turning 27 in May. Time flies . . . I don't feel old, but the number is slowly getting higher, which is scary!
What did you go to school for?
I have my bachelors in Integrative Biology and my masters in Entomology, which is the study of insects. I'm a dork, but I think I'm still really cool!
What tv shows do you like to watch?
I currently watch a good amount: House, The Big Bang Theory, The Office, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, Community, Lost, Heroes, True Blood, and Big Love.
If I happen to come across these shows or there is nothing else on, I have been known to watch: The Housewives of Orange County, New York, and Atlanta, Celebrity Fit Club, 16 and Pregnant, etc.
What are some of your favorite movies?
Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Pride and Prejudice, The Big Lebowski, Kung Fu Hustle, The Life Aquatic, Arrested Development, The Royal Tenenbaums, Napoleon Dynamite . . . . .
Why did you start making YouTube videos?
After finishing my masters, I found myself with a lot of free time and nothing to occupy it. During my masters, I didn't have the time or the energy to beautify. After finishing, I became friends with a coworker who always looked polished and it inspired me to take more interest in my appearance. She introduced me to MAC and I was hooked. I spent the next 6 months teaching myself to apply makeup. I found youtube and discovered that it was a great way to find tutorials. When I moved back to Chicago, I found myself with little to occupy my time and I started thinking about different types of hobbies I could do to keep me busy. I started to think that I wanted to participate in the youtube community. So many other girls were helpful in teaching me what I know today, and I thought I could share what I had learned and some other tricks up my sleeve to women of all ages. So, I taped my first video in October. I didn't really know what to expect. I posted my first video, I look like a deer in headlights . . . it actually takes a lot to make a video. So many things go through your mind when the camera is rolling: "what am I going to say, do I sound funny, am I making any weird faces, stop figitting, am I in the frame, etc". But after making a few, I greatly improved. And I feel much more confident on tape. This experience has forced me to try new things, learn to take criticism, and be more confident. I am so thankful for all the wonderful subscribers who support me everyday!
What are your favorite brands of makeup?
Well, Mac is probably #1, but I also love Benefit, Stila, Maybelline, L'oreal, Revlon, Urban Decay, Nars, Makeup Forever, and the list goes on.
How tall are you?
I am 5'2".
What color are your eyes?
Green.
What color is your hair?
Well, when I was born I had white blonde hair, but as I have gotten older it has become a more dirty blonde. I do color my hair with highlights and lowlights.
